Welcome to the GL & Co blog, where we write on a regular basis to keep every reader abreast of what is going on in the property market in West Sussex.

We like to include thoughts and comments from our managers and staff, based in the 3 GL & Co offices in Storrington, Horsham and Pulborough.

Craig, the manager of our Storrington office, gave us his thoughts earlier this week....

What a difference a week makes! Most weather conditions have been experienced over the last couple of weeks, right across the UK! Although some areas of Sussex missed the worst of the recent snow, it still has an impact on people travelling in order to commit to their appointments and thankfully, we only had the odd couple cancel. The turbulent scenes from the conditions is largely echoed by the press coverage and opinions on the UK housing market. Regardless of whether there is any big news, the housing market is a regular feature for many television news programmes and newspaper publications, with a continuous stream of mixed messages being reported on. It seems unanimous that first time buyer levels are strong across most areas, but are they being sucked away from the second-hand market and lured towards buying a new home? There's no doubt that the government backed 'help to Buy' scheme has indeed provided many people with the opportunity to own their first home when they maybe otherwise would have had to wait, but the benefits to the open market of first time buyers are slightly missed. With a lack of investment buyers, due to the additional 3% stamp duty levy, there are less of the first time buyers helping people make their second move, the upsize. News homes are needed to help with the housing shortage, there's no doubt about it, but the debate about how affordable the 'affordably housing' is will continue, especially in some areas in the South East as the large and needed developments continue in the area.

Alex, our Pulborough office Assistant Manager, highlights here where our extra service and customer care, pays off time after time.....We helped out one of our vendors this week who is unable to drive and therefore we accompanied her on some viewings outside of our area. She has now identified a property that would be perfect for her once she sells. Just one example of how we try to go above and beyond to help our clients achieve a stress-free move.
