Yorkshire Building Society says it often sees above-average numbers of mortgage completions on "unlucky" Friday the 13th, indicating that Britons shun superstitions regarding the date. Data from YBS shows that of nine Fridays falling on the 13th day of the month over the last five years, five have seen a higher-than-average number of customers moving house on that day – including Friday, December 13, 2013, when it witnessed a 64% increase in mortgage applications compared with the monthly average.
