Storrington is a thriving small town in a picturesque setting at the foot of the South Downs, which retains a lovely village atmosphere. It was known as Estorchestone in the Domesday Book, which related to it being well known for storks, rather than the market town it actually was. This market town role faded away in the 20th century, as did the rabbit breeding the town was renown for (hence the name Warren being used a great deal in the local area!).

Today Storrington has comprehensive shopping facilities, including a supermarket, banks, and churches of various denominations, doctors’ surgeries, dental practices, opticians, library and a museum. There are also a number of local specialised shops including a deli and lovely tearoom. The High Street has several pubs, and there are more close by in the lovely local countryside. Within the town there are a variety of restaurants, catering for traditional and more contemporary tastes. Storrington has schools providing for all ages, and all have excellent reputations. Pre-school children and toddlers are also well catered for in the area, with several community and activity groups tailored to young families.

Storrington provides an extremely wide and varied range of social and sporting activities including Chanctonbury Leisure Centre, which has a fitness centre, gym and is the venue for various classes and clubs. The A24 close to Storrington gives fast access to the motorway network, and in turn Gatwick and Heathrow airports, and the South coast is also very close by.
