The December Property Market

I’ve been talking to the office Managers this week and Craig, Manager of our Storrington office, commented "as we are now in December, I don't think I'm alone in thinking this year has gone rather quickly!" I tend to agree with him!

This is quite often the time when people slow down their house hunting and start battling their way around various shopping centres in preparation for the big day. For those people looking to sell, Craig’s advice would be to keep your property on the market. Yes, there are fewer buyers out looking around houses than doing their Christmas shopping, but those people that are trying to find a new home are motivated. They need to move for various reasons and are probably under pressure from their buyer if they are selling.

With more and more of the competition taking their properties off the market to settle down over Christmas, these motivated people are being pushed to your property; they need to find a new home and to keep the momentum going with their sale. For those people considering selling in the near future, don't wait until Spring like everyone else! Rightmove statistics show in the time between Christmas and New Year, more website hits are recorded in terms of visitors than any other time throughout the year. This peaks at almost 5 million unique visitors on the prime day

If you’d like more information regarding marketing at the best time to capatalise on these figures, please feel free to call Craig on 01903 742354 and discuss how our 'Get Set To Sell' campaign can help your property realise it's true potential and give you the best return on your investment.

Over in our Pulborough Office, Alex, our Assistant Manager has commented; ‘We have been gearing up for the Christmas period and speaking to some very motivated buyers who are determined to be in their new houses by Christmas. In addition, we’ve agreed some sales which is always nice to see in December. In between all this we have also managed to find time to decorate our lovely grade II office complete with a ‘Santa stuck up in the chimney’!’ Do pop in and have a look at the office if you’re passing as it’s looking rather lovely, especially lit up in the evening.

Since the announcement of the stamp duty changes in the recent budget, Tim, Manager of our Horsham office, has seen renewed interest from first time buyers looking to secure a purchase and take advantage of the incentive available to them. Tim advised ‘there has been an increase in enquiries for properties between £300,000 and £500,000’ so please do give the Horsham Team a call on 01403 248222 if you are looking to sell in the early part of 2018.

In the Lettings Department, Daniel, Head of Lettings’ has commented; ‘With Christmas rapidly approaching we are seeing December being one of our busiest months for tenants moving into rented accommodation.’ He continued, ‘viewing numbers are still high on the realistically priced properties, if you have a property you would like to rent please call us on 01903 744166’.

The local property market is still seeing a good deal of momentum even at this time of year, so please do contact my team if you’re considering selling or renting your property.
