Sunshine at last and an Olympic barbecue in West Chiltington.

Well who would have believed that this week I would be sitting at my desk feeling rather hot and really wishing that I could be outside enjoying the sunshine.  What a difference the weather makes!  The farmers are starting to smile again and we sat in our garden yesterday listening to a distant combine harvester.  Mind you my own family are farmers at Kirdford and they still maintain that true farmer characteristic of never being really happy, yes they agree that the sunshine will soon dry the crops for harvesting but it really is so wet underfoot that checking the outside cattle is very tricky!

Moving on I suppose I should mention the Olympics.  Sadly we do not have tickets but I hope all those that do have a great time.  My daughter is volunteering for the two weeks and is very excited about her stylish Olympic volunteer uniform!  My other daughter lives in London and is slightly dreading her daily commute as she is pretty sure it is going to be chaos on the underground but hopefully it will not be as bad as predicted.

So what has been going on in the company.  Well my husband and I were treated to a day at Ascot Races last Friday by Martin Grant Homes.  We are currently selling a site for Martin Grant Homes in New Town Road, Storrington although there are only a couple of properties left.  We had a good day at the races – we didn’t come out in profit but were only a little bit down on the day.

On Saturday some friends of ours in Spinney Lane, West Chiltington held an Olympic Barbecue!  They divided their guests into two teams and we played a selection of games, badminton, archery, darts, apple bobbing etc.  I represented my team in the swingball competition which I am pleased to say I won.  I am not a particularly competitive person but give me a swingball set and that all changes and the aggression really comes to the fore!  One of the highlights of the afternoon was the space hopper game – I am sure you all remember the large inflatable bouncy balls known as spacehoppers – well two adults careering around the garden after several glasses of Pimms was a sight to see!

Angie from the letting department is enjoying her stoolball season – she plays for Pulborough and they had a tournament yesterday so enjoyed a lovely day in the sun.  Meanwhile her daughters are canoeing down a river in Wales and yes, even Wales has sunshine!

Well by the time I write the next blog the Olympics will be in full swing and hopefully we will still be basking in sunshine.
