GL & Co celebrate Christmas

I was delighted to have a voluntary contribution for the blog this week! Huw Rees is a sales negotiator at our Pulborough Office. Huw is also proud dad to Wil & Alfie, two delightful boys. Huw and the boys had been to the Goodwood Breakfast Club – apparently this is free to attend and has been running since March 2006. The most recent meeting was on Sunday 5th June and the heading of the event was Sporting Legends; Post 1970 sports, performance and GT cars. This event runs from 8am hence the breakfast club title; the Rees family were a little later than that in arriving and although there was an excellent turn out the mood was good and there was plenty of elbow room for walking around and studying the cars. The boys were really excited and took plenty of photos of their favourite cars. Apparently if you sit in the ‘Goodwood Tunnel’ you can listen to the cars rumbling, or in some cases roaring, through – a great experience for the petrol heads amongst us!

Wil Rees, aged ?, had this to say about the day: "When we first got to Goodwood the only thing we saw were TVR's, Porsches, Ferraris, Jags, Maserati's and Aston Martins. The place was crowded, me and Alfie and Dad loved it, but there was one thing that we did not like ! we did not get to take them home, there were bikes there too, we all had a great time."

Saturdays are always one of our busiest days and we are very fortunate to have three amazing Saturday ladies who provide office support while the negotiators are out on appointments. Michelle Betts runs the Storrington Office on a Saturday as well as being our social media manager during the week. On Saturday a passing member of the public came into the office and asked Michelle to call the fire brigade as the public waste bin was on fire! Michelle looked out and indeed there was smoke coming out of the bin. She didn’t feel this was a huge emergency so tried to find a number for minor incidents but unable to do this she had not choice but to phone 999! It did seem a little over dramatic to have the full size Storrington fire engine arriving to put out a smoking litter bin but in hindsight Michelle felt she did the right thing. Her Saturday afternoon was made so much more interesting with the arrival of a team of burly fireman, she only wished she had thought ahead and had one of her legendary lemon drizzle cakes on offer!
