Congratulations to Fran and her family ...

Well this is a very important week for Fran Davis from our Pulborough Office.  Not only is her daughter getting married at the weekend but Fran has just been given a Diamond Jubilee medal for her services to CHART (Chiltington Area Response Team).  CHART is a registered charity, based in West Chiltington offering a free medical emergency service.  Its local First Responders have been trained by the South East Coast Ambulance Service to provide essential treatment in the first crucial minutes of an emergency, enabling critical intervention to be performed that can save lives or disability to be reduced.  This is especially the case in the event of medical conditions such as sudden heart attacks, chest pain, unconsciousness and when there are breathing difficulties.

CHART is totally self funded and therefore relies on raising funds and generous donations to help purchase essential equipment and keep the scheme operational.   The First Responders themselves all give their time voluntarily.  It was established almost six years ago and Fran and seven other members have been involved from the outset.  These eight worthy recipients were all awarded the Diamond Jubilee medal for their services.

We all offer our congratulations to Fran for her medal and also to her and her family on the occasion of the wedding.

My youngest daughter has now officially left school!  She has been a pupil at The Towers Convent School in Upper Beeding and on Saturday we spent the afternoon at the annual Prize Giving Ceremony.  Prize Giving involves the whole school but is focussed on the Year 11 girls who have sadly come to the end of their time there.  The girls all dress up in beautiful dresses and the headmistress, Mrs Baker, says a few words about each and every girl before inviting them individually to go onto the stage to receive their many certificates and awards.  We were then treated to an absolutely inspirational speech by a former pupil who has gone on to become a paediatrician at a London hospital followed by speeches from the current head girl and her parents.  All in all a pretty emotional afternoon as Emily has had a wonderful six years at The Towers.  However she is ready for a new adventure and in September will be starting at the sixth form at The Weald School in Billingshurst.

This is my last blog for a couple of weeks as I am off in search of some guaranteed sunshine but guest bloggers will be writing on my behalf!
