An Indian Summer perhaps?

Well it is fair to say that we are having something of an Indian summer as the weather really has been quite pleasant for the last few weeks.  In fact it is really quite dry everywhere and perhaps a drop of rain wouldn’t go amiss.  The evenings are most definitely becoming quite autumnal and we have to confess to lighting our fire this weekend just to take the chill of the room.

Another sure sign of winter being around the corner is the start of some old TV favourites.  Strictly Come Dancing is back for it’s 10th series – my absolute favourite!  A third series of Downton Abbey began last night and did not disappoint!  I suppose it is only fair to mention X factor although if I am honest this is not something I watch although it can be entertaining sometimes.  My youngest daughter is a fan but she has just started to work on a Saturday evening at The Old Forge Restaurant in Storrington to earn a little pocket money.  This is a lovely traditional restaurant run by Cathy Roberts and provided excellent training for my older daughter who has always supplemented her income at university by waitressing.

This weekend saw the Goodwood Revival.  The traffic in Storrington was very heavy as a result but I understand it was an excellent event as usual.  We were joined on Saturday evening by some friends who had travelled from Norfolk to attend the Revival for the first time; they thoroughly enjoyed themselves although they hadn’t quite appreciated the effort people make to dress in 40’s style so they felt a little out of place in their usual 21st Century attire!

This week we have our regular company breakfast meeting at West Chiltington Golf Club.  It is an opportunity for the team to get together and work on different ideas, usually focussed on our continuing efforts to maintain and improve our level of customer service.  It is an early start and people drive from Horsham, Haslemere as well as more local areas to attend but it is generally quite enjoyable and bacon sandwiches are provided halfway through!

Next week I shall be in Edinburgh visiting my daughter who is at University there.  Edinburgh is one of the most beautiful places I have visited and I shall miss my regular trips when Polly graduates next summer.  However this trip will be slightly different as I am going by train for the first time, it promises to be a lovely trip as I think some of the scenery along the east coast of our country is very beautiful.  I hope in my absence that a guest blog will be submitted by our social media manager, Michelle Betts.

In the meantime enjoy this beautiful sunshine ....
